Suzume Zuki and Pieni: a new duo exhibit at Raglan Tree Gallery for April-May of 2017

Raglan Tree Gallery
There is a new duo exhibit at Raglan Tree Gallery for April-May of 2017. The gallery is curated by Panacea Pangaea and the posters were made by her using our profile images.

Suzume Zuki

Suzume Zuki is a very talented illustrator, whose fan I have been for a while now. Her drawings show a lot of skill, and her themes are sure to capture the imagination. Some of her pieces are exclusive for this exhibit. She has a permanent booth in Galleria Kakku and has had several exhibits in Second Life. In real life her works have been featured on products such as calendars. Follow her on Flickr and check out her awesome SL pictures!

Pieni

I have a few of my drawings up, and each of them are first shown at this exhibit. One of my drawings, called Pink Bunny, is a 100% donation item to help with Louise's Cancer Treatment. As you may know, I own Galleria Kakku and have exhibited in Raglan Shire before, during the annual Art Walk and at the tree gallery.

Galleria Kakku artists at home and featured elsewhere

I recently blogged The MadPea International Food Fair for Feed a Smile, which is open from February 18th to 4th of March, and mentioned there were a few familiar names from Galleria Kakku among those featured at the Art Exhibit curated by Kultivate Magazine.

There are some new pieces in their booths at Galleria Kakku, so I thought I would show you.

Isis Boa said her new works were inspired by a dream. I absolutely love the intensity of her works in her booth.

Kayly Iali is showcasing her drawings, which are amazing. She says in her description, that the technique was inspired by the Drawing Demonstration of Costa Vavagiakis on Youtube. She also appears in this book about 5-Minute Sketches. And for good reason.

Suzume Zuki makes colorful and beautiful art which seems to come from it's own fantastic world.

Jolie has her own Art Dream gallery and is quickly becoming a name in the SL art world. I can see why.

Ricco Saenz: Black + White + Other Colors and The Photo Game

I am excited about Ricco Saenz joining Galleria Kakku. And his first exhibit is very inspiring. I find Ricco to be a very perceptive, thinking artist, who seems to have things to say with his art, every time. With these works, I am not always sure which one I prefer out of the pairs, they seem to tell a different story in the same spot. Both captivating. But I will let him tell you in his own words:
"Black + White + Other Colors is a selection of pictures taken by Ricco Saenz at 1920’s New York Project in SL. The images come in pairs, each of them in black & white and in colors. More than  just offering two options for the same photo, the idea is to provide the opportunity to examine, by comparing those versions, how colors and monochromatic shading change the perceptions that one has of those images. The exhibition opens on February 20 and runs throughout March and April at Galleria Kakku (3rd floor). Everyone is invited!"

You may have heard of his other new project, The Photo Game, a collaboration with Boudicca Amat at the gallery located at An Uncertain Destiny. He blogged it in greater detail himself. The concept of the exhibit is that they both picked three works of art from each other's Flickr pages, and then commented on them. It was a new evolution of a project they have been doing online since September 21st, 2016.

The set up is inviting. I found it lifted each artwork into focus individually, but also made them all work together nicely.

I recommend commenting on the art, as it changes the experience a little. Putting your feelings into words is a challenge that makes you look at the pieces more carefully.

I like that both artists clearly took time to think about their comments. They were respectful and are clearly aware of the progress of each other as artists. One can tell they are both well versed in how to look at art.

The location itself is great for a peaceful stroll. It rains, but we are not made of sugar.

Art at MadPea International Food Fair

The MadPea International Food Fair from February 18th to 4th of March, is full of food themed goodies, and 50% of the proceeds are going to the Feed a Smile / Live and Learn in Kenya charity that helps impoverished children in the Rhonda Slums of Nakuru, Kenya. They have live events, and so much shopping to do, that you will stay busy all day. But did you see there was an art exhibit, too? And quite a good one at that. Mad Pea really brings it, when they have events. The exhibit was curated by Kultivate Magazine, which has been involved in quite a few charity events as of late, I have noticed.

(Artists from Galleria Kakku featured at the Food Fair: Suzume Zuki, Isis Boa, Johannes1977, Jolie, Kayly Iali)

I first heard of this event, when Suzume Zuki told me she had been accepted as one of the artists. Her beautiful art has always been special to me. I had to wait a bit before I got to the fair, because I have been crashing a lot lately, in Second Life. But now that I managed a visit, I noticed they have some other great artists familiar from Galleria Kakku, too! I am so excited for them all. Take a look at all of the art, though, there are great pieces out.

The fair is huge, two sims in size. So there will be a lot for you to explore. I took a few pictures, but really it is impossible to get all of it in a few shots. This is a great charity and a fun event, and I am glad to see so many people participating. You can see the digital counter with the sum raised live on their website and at the event. It has jumped quite a bit every day, such a great job!

Drax Files has a great video on what Feed a Smile is doing in SL. Lindens may seem like small change to some but with events this size, people are really making a difference. Just 100L$ pays for a meal for one child.

A visit to the Layachi Art Gallery

Silas Merlin introduced me to a fantastic artist called Layachi Ihnen, whose exhibit "Visions éphémères ...  Ã©phémeral visions" at  Layachi Art Gallery opened today and will be open for two weeks. I find his use of acrylic painting and digital technologies together to be intriguing. You should also visit his main gallery here.
